Manna House Support

Manna House and Midlothian fit “hand in glove.” The idea of Manna House began in the minds of some local eighth graders at their public school back in 1992. They came up with a feasible way to help feed the hungry in their community. Their idea grew into a thriving, local nonprofit that assists people in need throughout Midlothian and Ellis County. Manna House today consists of a thrift store called Heaven’s Attic and a food pantry. In addition to food and clothing, Manna House provides assistance in paying for utilities and medicine.

Living Faith Lutheran in Midlothian supports Manna House. One of the ways we do this is by collecting nonperishable food for the Manna House food pantry. At different times during the year, Living Faith distributes reusable grocery bags in Midlothian neighborhoods with a note that lists the needed nonperishable items. Residents who want to help can put those items in the tote bags and leave them on their porches on the designated pickup day. Living Faith will stop by and pick up the donated items and deliver them to Manna House.

The food collection events are a “win, win, win, win.”  Midlothian residents get to support the less fortunate in a very practical way, the Manna House food pantry is filled, the less fortunate in our community are fed, and Living Faith is blessed to provide a helping hand.
